#45 – Guy Socks – Dec 2007
#38 – 52 Pair Plunge
.
The yarn really looked like guy colours to the teen guy in my house. And he was complaining about cold toes, promising me that he would take care of socks, should I be so kind as to knit for him. He doesn’t like really long legs, which is good since he is a size 45 European in shoe. At 76 stitches around it is a 6/2 rib. I started them on the plane flight back from Argentina and finished them up while in the U.K. Intermediate stops were Brazil and Germany. Yarn came from the US, so these are well traveled even before they landed on his feet.
#44 – Regia Stripe- Nov 2007
#37 – 52 Pair Plunge
Regia Crazy stripe with a predominately pink colour which are destined for Ms Pink. Knit while at APG participating in an exercise. Have to keep the hands busy so that one does not go totally insane.
#43 – Salmon Chain Link- Nov 2007
#36 – 52 Pair Plunge
Knit out of a highly twisted merino (I think from Monarch) these are my own pattern of slipped stitch. So far they are mine, since the girls weren’t really happy with the colour. Suits me just fine to cheer things up a bit.
#42 – Rivendell- Nov 2007
#35 – 52 Pair Plunge
These are one of the SOM from Chameleon Colorworks with pattern and dyed yarn by Janel. Not a completely easy knit, you have to pay attention to where you are and occasionally move stitches from one needle to the other.

#34 – 52 Pair Plunge
These are knit from Wicked Colourway purchased from The Sweet Sheep. It is the generic sock pattern of 60 stitches on 2,5 mm needles
#40 – Peacock – Oct 2007
#33 – 52 Pair Plunge
I can’t find a picture of the finished pair. This just might be because George really liked them, at least the colour combination which really does resemble the peacocks tail. The pattern is designed as well by Janel of the original Chameleon Colorwords to look like the eye of the peacock. They will be his so long as I do not catch him wandering around the house in stocking feet.
#39 – Wyvern – Oct 2007
#32 – 52 Pair Plunge

#24 – Horocrux – May 2007
#17 – 52 Pair Plunge
The yarn is Herbstmelodie from Opal. The pattern is the fingering weight version posted on Six Socks KAL. The inspiration comes from Harry Potter, for those of you who did not recognize it. It refers to the lightening scar on his forehead. The worsted pattern can be found for free on Susan Pierce Lawrence’s blog “I’m Knitting as Fast as I Can.
#23 – Lava Spiral – May 2007
#16 – 52 Pair Plunge
The yarn is Earth Birth from Lisa Souza. The pattern is original, based on the flow of the yellow and the Bohus technique of making colour pop out with purls when they line up.
#22 – Grasshopper – May 2007
#15 – 52 Pair Plunge
The April/second sock in Blue Moon’s 2007 Sock of the Month club got here in May. The yarn is silky in colorway Walk on the Wild Tide and the pattern is called Grasshopper. It is a toe up design featuring a a p2tog, yo pattern that was ok once I had it under control. After reading all the comments from those who had already knit these socks, I kept the back of the leg in ribbing (rather than pattern) so that it would not bag.
#21 – Blue & Gray – May 2007
#14 – 52 Pair Plunge
Just normal, ordinary men’s socks. Vanilla pattern on 2,5 mm needles of German sock yarn
#20 – Shadow Sock – May 2007
#13 – 52 Pair Plunge
This is the April 2007 SOM from Chameleon Colorworks. One yarn is bamboo/merino, the other a merino tencil. I knit the first sock lengthwise and did the grafting. Since I am not a fan of after thought heels and a lot of ends to weave in, I picked an alternate method for the second sock. I don’t have a problem with fraternal socks.
#19 Maitanz – May 2007
#12 – 52 Pair Plunge
This is the May Sock from the SKL Liste.
#18 – May Day – May 2007

#17 – Glamour – April 2007
#10 – 52 Pair Plunge
This is the March 2007 SOM from SockenKreativeListe, the German = to the 6 sock KAL. The yarn is Scarlett Letter in merino-tencil from The Sweet Sheep. I did the first sock on 2,0 mm Lantern Moon Sox Stix and the top and guseet of the second on my 2,5 mm rosewood dps, as the first was a bit tight at the ankle to easily put on. I don’t have 2,25mm needles, but that would probably be the answer. I love knitting with this yarn, it is shiny and cool. But it has no give so I am planning on considering it the same as cotton yarns when picking out patterns in the future. The provisional cast on for the top was easy as was the knitting and turning row. I fought the beads to a draw, then won. I know have twisting the stitch down so that the bead stays at the front. I like the way the cuff works when the two layers are knit together. Even though the lace panel is about 18 rows long, you can get into a rhythm with it. It is 4 panels of 17 stithces each for a 68 stitch sock.
#16 – Niagara Falls – April 2007
#9 – 52 Pair Plunge
This is the March 2007 SOM from Chameleon Colorworks. the yarn is a typical sock yarn blend, hand dyed in a speckled shades of blue. It didn’t look like much in the skein, but now I really like how the watery look appears after knitting. This was 60 stitches on 2,5 mm needles. I did alter the pattern, choosing not to knit the legs entirely in the lace pattern, instead alternating a repeat with equal rows of stockinette.
#15 – Jody’s Socks – April 2007
#8 – 52 Pair Plunge
Jolene wrote this lovely pattern, and I got a chance to test drive it. Knit from the toe up, the lace panel in front is lined by faggoting. There is also a strip of the faggoting that goes up the back. Rather than a short row, the heel is turned, then the gusset completeld. After a short section of faggoting around the entire top, it finishes with a small stockinette rolled hem. When she has it out officially, I will post the link here. I plan on making a second pair, but will skip the lace panel in the back, it looks great but I don’t like anything across my heel that might not wear or could irritate me. The yarn is Zen Garden in colorway Norwegian Shores. 60 stitches on 2,5 mm double points.
#14 – Retro Rib – April 2007
#7 – 52 Pair Plunge
The Pattern is Retro Rib from Favorite Socks. They are made of of German Sock yarn. Zitron in specific that my son dyed back about a week before I started the socks. Since he likes low ankles and has size 12 feet, I figured it sort of balanced out. 72 stitches around done on 2,5 dps from the top down. Foto’d on my feet, they are obviously too big, but fit the kid fine.
#13 – Slip Stitch Stripe – April 2007
#6 – 52 Pair Plunge
The is JaWoll cotton in a four color stripe featuring two shades of orange, a blue and a grey. I have no clue as to what ever possesed me to buy anything of this particular color in the first place. Grey or blue? No question, but orange? Not in this lifetime. The pattern is a simple slip stitch (K5, SL1 first row, knit second row and repeat the two rows until you are insane or the sock is long enough) with an eye of partridge heel. Knit on 2,5 mm over 60 stitchesse
#12 – Side Panel – April 2007
#5 – 52 Pair Plunge
Another one that had spent way too much time as an orphan. The yarn is, I believe, Regia, knit over 60 stitches with three panels of twisted stitches, one on each side and the final one in the back. The heel is a common strap and a routine toe.
#11 – Antique Stripes – April 2007
#4 – 52 Pair Plunge
These socks are made from Regia in colorway Antique Stripe. I purchased the yarn in 2004, after returning from Kuwait. I started the first sock, then dropped it in the “do it later basket” where it languished until this month. Knit on 2,5 mm needles with 60 stitches. Just the standard vanilla top down sock.
#10- Tigers – April 2007
#3 – 52 Pair Plunge
These socks are made from the original Opal Tiger Colorway. I purchased the yarn at the Outlet store in Hechigen back about 2000. Originally for my husband, but his taste does not run to anything so loud. The 18 year old was interested, but the first sock was too long. I went back, shortened it with a wide toe box at the end rather than do all those decreases, then knit the second sock as a normal sock. This was 64 stitches on 2,5 mm needles.
#9 – Bavarian Braided Sock – April 2007
#2 – 52 Pair Plunge
The pair was started sometime in 2006 and finished 8 April 07. It is a German sock yarn, 60 stitches knit on Rödel bamboo 2,5 mm double points (15 cm).
#8 – Horcrux – April 2007
#1 – 52 Pair Plunge
The pattern name comes from Harry Potter, for those of you who did not recognize it. It refers to the lightening scar on someone or others forehead. The actual pattern can be found for free on Susan Pierce Lawrence’s blog “I’m Knitting as Fast as I Can. This particular pattern uses worsted weight yarn. I used a couple of skeins of Collinette’s merino in colorway Monet. Knit on 4,0 m ebony double points, those 40 stitches felt like nothing.
#7 – Falling Leaves – March 2007
The pattern is from Knitty.com and the yarn is Socks that Rock – from Blue Moon Fiber Arts in Scottish Highlands. Unfortunately, the light color is a pretty obvious yellow in person. Which makes sense when you think about it, I had just thought “cream” based on my monitor. Unlike the pattern, I just reversed the chart and knit these from the cuff down. I have worn them a couple of times and they are not bad at all (grin).
.
#6 – Inside – Out – March 2007 – Blue Moon Fiber Arts SOM
This is the first sock in Blue Moon’s 2007 Sock of the Month club. The yarn is colorway Monsoon and the pattern is called Inside-Out, from the fact that the sock can be worn either way. It is a toe up design featuring a garter toe and short row heal, there is no grafting. Rather than kill my hands or switch back and forth with needle sizes, I stayed with 2,5 mm needles through out. Including all the changes made with the second sock-I cast on 26 stitches for the toe, going down to 6 stitches at the turn. When back up to the top, I picked up three stiches on each side between the front and the back. Distributing accordingly, I adjusted the number of 2/1 and 2/2 ribs to match the number of stitches. After the heel, I again picked up stitches along the edge to increase to 65 prior to starting the cable section. I knit almost 15 rows prior to starting the pattern, adding in a 2/1/2 cable on the inside of each leg crossed every five rows for a total of 5 – large cables plus the five stitch cable. They feel extremely comfortable and well padded.
#5 – Jaywalker – Feb 2007
The sock yarn came from Isobel a number of years ago – it is Lorna’s Laces and the pattern is from Gruperina and can be found on Magknits.
#4 – Central Air – Feb 2007
The sock yarn and pattern both came from Blue Moon Fiber Arts. The pattern is Central Air, while the yarn is a light medium weight of Chapman Springs
#3 – Hope – Feb 2007, Chameleoncolors SOM
The sock yarn and pattern both came from Chameleoncolor Works. as part of their sock of the month series. The yarn is a wonderful bamboo-merino blend and is extremely soft to knit with. I will admit to decreasing the pattern to 60 stitches and knitting it on my customary 2.5mm rosewood double points. Both the pattern and the color are in honor of Breast Cancer awareness month.
#2 – Rock and Weave Socks – Jan 2007
The sock yarn and pattern both came from Blue Moon Fiber Arts. The Pattern is Rock and Weave, while the yarn is a medium weight of Jingle Bell Rock
#1 – Sunshine – Jan 2007
The sock is made out of 100% Merino which came from Rödel and I adapted the pattern from Broadripple.
Oh – the Sock Blockers?
They care from The Loopy Ewe. No affliation, yada, yada.
