Where do I go next?

This is a classic stitchers/embroiders dilemma. In this case I don’t simply mean where in the house although that could easily apply. I have “The Clock” stashed in the upstairs lounge. The Hearthside Frame is in the living room with the MFE piece firmly attached to the scroll rods. And then there  is the mess of my craft room.

Choices? Not really. I want to finish the flipping Deadly Aquarium. I actually have no clue of how many stitches are left as parts 11 & 13 are loaded into Pattern Keeper individually, while I had to load the whole thing in for Part 12. Those nasty little jelly fish otherwise don’t tell me WHERE they need to be stitched.

And this leads me to the decision point: first choice is to finish each motif in each section before I move on to the next. This involves  changing colors numerous times (pulling threads, threading needles etc). Or I can use one the of the colors and stitch everywhere it is called for before moving on to the next color.

It is now about 2030 in the evening. I managed to finish the stitching on The Deadly but have absolutely no interest in starting the backstitching. I wound up pretty much finishing a color before I moved on to the next. There was the same amount of starting and stopping, but at least I didn’t have to thread needles quite as often. It came to about 850 stitches with most in Part 12, some in Part 11, the least in Part 13 and finally the gulls which should have been stitched way back when I did the frame.

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!
