Two and a half of Five

Military

Stopping by Kleber Kaserne today, I found that I was not in their system. Somehow, I had never been added to this particular community on in-processing when I returned from downrange in 2004. And you can’t out-process someone who is not there.

I wish this meant that I could skip the whole ordeal, but it was not to be the case. Instead, what was to be 30 minutes wound up drawn out to almost an hour. But I have clearing papers. Even more importantly than that – I have an appointment with CIF to rid myself of all the heavy duty field gear.

Re-cert

I mentioned the recertification module?

Today, by taking advantage of a printer at the medical library, on line reference materials, Google, and some decent guesses I managed to finish 40 of the 60 questions. At home I managed another 10. This left me with the hardest 10. Those that did not make any sense, even with the reference materials right there in front of me.

But we managed – my support system and I.

Fuzz Bucket

Either tomorrow if I have 2 hours of quiet time (or Saturday if I don’t) I will get through the practice module and meet this year’s dead line.

Knitting

The WIPs are getting done!

I finished up the wristwarmers while sitting around waiting for appointments.

As is the Funnel Neck Sweater. Now the problem is going to be who is going to wear it?

Or one of the guys….. (teens don’t want to be photo’d)

As it turns out, none of us really like it!

Then I moved on the Valley Jacket.

I undid the collar, took out four rows and redid the bind off after doing the first sleeve. The sleeve doesn’t look like much when flat, but fits just as it should on.

Not bad for today.

Now, my problem is that none of the projects left is particularly portable….

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!

Thanks for your comment today. Hubbo has added an additional story. Lunacy at it’s best.

Thanks for your advice regarding the tattoos. I have had one for about 15 years and I understand the permanency!

I have no doubt you will finish your UFOs. You are the speediest knitter I know!

After all this time, I found that I can read your entries, I just have to scroll down! I have been keeping up with your exploits through google reader but could not fathom your blog. I am back in form now.
