The November Challenge

For those who find stitching boring – skip this post. You have been warned.

Anyway – I have five projects left to finish I just realized, looking at the list that they are ALL 2024 starts. So I met the goal of finishing all the old projects on my list. Next year? I might have to dig through a few more bins and see what else I can dig up that is yet unfinished. And my next year’s limit on stitches per project is going to be about 10k.

Back to my calculations –  the list is as follows with the first two being completely non-portable.

324 – 6628 stitches left

IAT – oops – No Time Like the Preset – 9529

Halloween Clock – 4778 (SAL)

Smaug – 6400? best guess with 7 sections to go could be a lot less (SAL)

Vampyrum- 9551 (SAL)

which best guess is about 34000 stitches give or take (33985….) And these numbers are AFTER the 1151 I stitched today.

Miriam & I leave for Heathrow on the 30th of the month. So take a couple of days off the available stitching time, along with Halloween. And then there are errands, potential Poll Work. But Smaug, the Clock & Vanpyrum could all come with. But if I get more than a couple done before then … New Cruise, new start – right?

I will concentrate on the two projects that aren’t portable – 324 & IAT.

The first page (½) is complete and I am 17 motifs into page two (170/324) so finally over ½ way.

See what I mean, Army folk? Boring….

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!
