Tender Ports

The sunrise was beautiful

In this case, tender has nothing to do with emotions – rather the placing of a ship at anchor followed by transporting passengers between ship and shore by means of smaller craft. In this case, the lifeboats belonging to the ship.

The tendering process had started about 0800, but it took them till almost 1230 before it became open seating on the tenders. By that point, I had lost all interest in heading to the Santa Barbara Marina, even for a simple ride in and back.

And, as one would expect, the “last tender is 1615” wasn’t able to accommodate all those waiting for it.  It was over an hour after that when the Captain came on to report that we would be headed to San Diego shortly. It isn’t that the distance is all that far. Leaving anchor an hour or two after what was initially planned will make no difference at all in our arrival time.

Me?

I had a lovely day, sitting on my balcony looking out toward the shore and listening to the occasional seal barking. There was reading, relaxing, stitching, and perhaps a bit of a nap. I also packed early so that I wouldn’t have to bother with much of anything this evening.

I added the potion to the Witches Cabinet (7 done and the rest to go) and finally stitched the bottom side borders on Horrorflies plus started the two side critters. I should be able to finish them tomorrow, leaving only the parts dropping on the 13th and 20th to go.

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!
