Sweaters

And another night of being disturbed by the cat. But it means that I should be tired enough to sleep on the plane tomorrow. As I started the first load of laundry today and attempted to figure out what I was taking with – a large pile of sweaters came down on my head.

Ok. That just might be the hint I needed to sort them and place all the good ones (read wool) into sweater bags. So I first yanked all of them down from the closet shelf and started folding them on the bed.

and then I decided to sort them into the bought

vs the sweaters & vests that I had knit

turns out the numbers are about even. Of note, there are seven Hanne Falkenberg sweaters (Danish Designer) and the rest are stranded projects. Of the store bought, most area also of the stranded pattern/Scandinavian looking designs

The challenge is that almost of all these were knit around 2011 or before. German winters can be cold, I wore sweaters a lot. Same with the UK, especially considering the really poor heating where I lived and worked. Now? California is mild. It rarely gets about 28*C and almost never below 11*C. My need for sweater is almost non-existent. A sweatshirt does fine, or shirt with a zip up vest.

Ah, well. after dealing with the sweaters, I packed my suitcase. We leave early in the morning. I think it is United to Toronto then Air Canada to Edinburgh. George has enough miles built up on Lufthansa to do multiple upgrades. We learned from the last trip that letting the travel folks book means lousy times, seats, and connections.

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!
