The Amtrak line connecting New Orleans and Los Angeles is the Sunset Limited
Obviously, I am not staying on the train all the way to New Orleans, but I could have and then been taking a different ship home. On the other hand, since the trains run three days a week, I have an aversion to mad dashes to cruise terminals less than a couple of hours before a ship is due to depart.
Anyway
I have about an hour between trains which ought to be just about enough…. A 2200 Departure should let me get at least some sleep. I go near Phoenix at about 0500 in the morning which is way too early to ask family to come and say hi (especially since the train stops for all of about 10 minutes to load passengers)
