summing February

I could make all the bad jokes about leaping years, months, and extra days. But since poor February is still short a day or so, I am not going to indulge. Rather, I am just going to summarize what I have managed to get done. Accomplish is such a freighted word…

Knitting

– made significant progress on the Ten-Stitch Blanket –

I have finished a full ball of each color and am likely to run out of the blue by the end of the next 1-2 sides.  This is my car, waiting room, etc project so there isn’t a great hurry…

additional starts

a) A Field Guide to Dragons – Climbing Goat Designs. Started 25 Feb 2024. This is a 12 month SAL. The Frame, parts 1&2 have been released. This is – I think – 18 Count Aida from AfterGlowWorkshop (Etsy)
and about 32% complete to this point.
b) No Time Like the Present – Modern Folk Embroidery. 18 ct Rustic Aida with DMC 3371 & 3750. Also started 25 Feb. About 8%.

the other current WIPs

a) The Solar System – ClimbingGoat Designs – left over SAL from ?2022?. I am down to Saturn, Earth, a comet or two and some random fragments.

b) and finally – Aries who is turning out to be a real pain. Whopping number of beads (some of which aren’t available anymore) and just general irritation. But she is 8/12 so I am definitely making progress..

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!
