Stitching with turbulence

Please bear with me as I attempt to peck out these sentences as the plane bounces. What plane? Our flight on United from Logan Airport in Boston to SFO that I am spending awake while George snoozes next to me.

We got to the airport this morning without drama, made use of George’s access to the United Lounge for a late breakfast/early lunch. I also packed up a cup of treats (gummi bears and chocolate covered expresso beans) in case I got the munchies on the plane.

The turbulence lasted only about 20 minutes while the pilots attempted to find a smooth flying level Meanwhile I had pulled out “Tea” which is by the same designer as the Coffee pattern I stitched a few weeks ago. I have a window seat which provided me marginally more light than the aisle seats might have. The overhead light didn’t help much. I really miss my magnifier, although in this case, being able to better see the holes in this 18ct aide wouldn’t make them much easier to hit with the plane bouncing.

We actually arrived at SFO on time, coming in directly over the Bay, taxied in and then waited till our gate was cleared. By the time we walked (of course it was the furthest gate possible) to baggage claim our luggage was on the carousel. From bagged claim in Terminal 3, we headed over to the International Terminal and arrived at the BART station just in time to board the Richmond train (direct) and got off in Downtown Berkeley, cab up the hill and we are home.

We are pretty much unpacked and a first sort of the mail has been completed.  I’ll add photos when I have the time/energy.

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!
