Skagway

AKA – 50 ways to poison your lover.

Skagway was the kick off point for most of the Yukon Gold Rush. Last year I took the White Pass Train up to the summit. This year we hiked up to lower Dewey Lake. I managed to find a lot of ‘srooms.

After scrabbling up the mountain (past the outdoor privy) we made it to the start of the Dewey Lower Lake Trail. The right hand fork was a reasonably easy hike. When we got to the decision point at the far side of the lake there was this small sign notifying us that the trail beyond was not well maintained. Ok? Exactly what did that mean?

It means narrow, slippery trails not marked. Interrupted by root roots slick with moisture and multiple waist high tumbled rock falls. I managed without damaging the camera at all and my hands not too badly.

After that it was a breeze to wander around town for a short while before heading back to the ship.
