Puerto Madryn
Rather than spend three hours each way on a ship booked bus to see penguins or about the same in a private van with a whiny three year old princess ( if you met the parents….) I elected to explore the town.
Since it was the commercial port at which we docked, there was a shuttle bus to town provide by the city itself. From there it was hike up and down streets just to see what was around. According to information given there is over 5 km of beach to hike. Down almost at the edge of town and two parallel streets in I found a small wool/craft shop. Notions, ribbons, threads, a few fabrics and novelty acrylics. Tucked on a lower shelf were skeins of lace weight local wool. I bought three equalling almost 300 gm for a total under = ~$12US which also included two small crochet hooks that were in the container that failed to make the suitcase.
Further along the same street was a second store featuring more of the same. The town is 60k, so stumbling on two notion/yarn locations is not bad at all.
I wandered for a couple of hours, visiting stores and now headed for lunch followed by a local museum.
Beautiful weather so that the umbrella is safely residing back on the ship and I don’t have to worry about overheating too badly.
Wish you were here!
