As it turns out, there is a lovely lounge at the Schipol Transportation Hub run by the rail folks. Takes a membership card or…. a first class international ticket to enter the lounge. Now why didn’t I know about this years ago?

Any way, it is just the same as the airlines lounges. There is a lovely coffee machine from which I am happily consuming lattes. There is a fridge that has a selection of waters, juices, sodas and alcohols. Comfortable chairs & couches, desks with outlets and free WiFi round out the advantages of hanging out here till the train departs.

The only thing that is missing is an internal rest room. Meanwhile, I thought I would let you know that I am alive, well and on my way home. My route home is a bit more complicated.

It was an easy hike to Amsterdam Central Station and a 20 minute ride to Schipol. Since I was smart enough to catch a train rather than the local S-Bahn I didn’t have to deal with a double decker train that features a small entry way and lots of stairs up and down to seating.

From here I catch an IC to Utrecht this afternoon followed by a train change and another at Fraport (which is better than changing in Frankfurt and in Mannheim).

I have computers, still a bit of knitting left and enough money to take a taxi home from the train station.

Oh yes, I have keys as well!

    You have everything!

NJ Transit has double decker trains into the city. Not very many stairs. I always sit on the lower level since there is less sway. Easier to knit here that on the top. Plus, everyone wants to sit on the upper level, so I have a great chance of getting a good seat.

So where do you go now? I’m getting my vicarious thrills out of your voyages.
