Not so early

It would have been totally amazing to sleep in this morning. No cat nagging me starting somewhere between 0430-0515 making sure that his breakfast was in his dish NLT 0600. However, someone had a meeting in South San Francisco and had asked for a ride to BART in order to catch the 0730. Instead, with an alarm set to go off at 0700 – someone woke me up seriously before that since he had figured out that if he caught the 0715 BART he would be in time for the connecting shuttle from BART at the far end. This would save him significant hassle.  Not sure why he thought that I needed more than 5 minutes to get out the door, but there you have it.

After dropping him off, I made a detour to Peet’s figuring that I probably deserved some coffee…

Unlike most days where I get bored and switch projects every couple of hours-  I put in time on only two: Treasure Island Part 14 –

The border has a lot of stitches – the weird looking thing is the start of a pair of cutlasses, and then there are legs…

My final start of the month is the Savana Elephant from Lindy Stitches. Technically this is part 2/6 with a new pattern being released every two months. The previous one was the Amur Leopard which I posted 22 March.  This one is essentially the same size. The fabric is a 16ct neutral (lambs something or other) and the called for DMC + I am substituting Gentle Arts Driftwood and Aged Pewter for the called for Weeks & CCW.

It doesn’t look like much at the present but is actually over 1000 stitches (16%) which means that I can probably get it finished (in rotation with the other SALs) before the next pattern is released 20 May.

Tomorrow is going to be another “thrilling” day – there is laundry to do….

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!
