No Nessie

We spent an inordinate amount of time on the bus today. It isn’t that the scenery is dull, or that the people around me aren’t interesting to chat with. It is just that I want to be up and moving. And before you make a sarcastic remark about traveling by ship, just remember that on the ship I can walk around, get a fresh cup of coffee, visit with people, and enjoy the scenery coming to me. I don’t get sea sick. The vibrations in this bus make it hard to read or knit…

Anyway – our first stop today was Inveraray Castle (home of Clan Campbell and the Duke of Argyll.  If you want history – go here, here, or here (for the designated listing information. The family lives here, so all of it isn’t open to the public. Speaking of that – to control the wear, tear and visitors, the castle is intermittently closed to the public. Today was one of those days – just opened the doors for a couple of tours. The Netherlands tour bus seemed a lot fuller than ours.

(pictures to follow when the internet here is back up – or tonight which every happens first). Not interested in using up the bandwidth to hotspot uploading photos..

From there it was a ride to Luss for a short stop then off to Loch Lomond (song started in your head yet?) for an hour cruise up and down the Loch before returning to the hotel.

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!
