Loading – Day 1

the truck

the truck

Imagine my surprise when the two man crew showed up with their van. Not a small one this time, but a larger one loaded with five containers. Four of these were empty and the fifth was loaded with packing materials. The usual drill on these moves (trust me I have completed more than an handful) is pack for multiple days, then load and go. Not this time apparently. They felt that it might be nice to have some room to move around. That and our road prevents really huge trucks. Add in the fact that their staging warehouse is Wiesbaden more than an hour away and you start to see the challenge.

End result is that for theĀ first couple of hours, they loaded containers fromĀ the garage. One contain completely full of plastic bins and boxes – almost all of which were generically labeled wool on the inventory. The outside of this container was marked as Studio/Garage unlike the next two which were simply labeled house and hold furniture. That is 3/5. Then there are the endless inventory lists – as each and every item gets its own numbered sticker and entry on the list.

The next couple of hours – the guys loaded out from what was already packed before tackling more bookcases after lunch.
