As it turns out, driving a car is just like riding a bicycle. Once you learn how, you don’t easily forget. Even if it has been seven months, somehow you manage to start, drive and park. I have to admit, having it all come back on autopilot might also have something to do with driving for close to 50 years.
So there I am in the car. First traveling to the Shopping Center, not because I want to shop, but because that is where the community services are also located. Retirement briefings, finance rep and the like. (Did I mention coffee? Coffee is always good).
After managing to set up appointments, stopping the downrange pays, filling out a travel voucher – I headed over to the hospital caserne with a copy of the European out regulation and a small hope my paperwork will be straightened out prior to retirement.
Also managed to clear all of my boxes out of Dense’s office – so small accomplishments just leave you with a good feeling. And a pile of boxes at the foot of 60 steps.
Are you guys remaining in Germany for the time being?
A step for each year?
The elevator is broken again? Rats! I don’t mind exercise, but steps are hard on the knees, especially when carrying things.
Do you have any plans for coming back to the US for a visit?
Good for you.
…sorry… !
