Not dyslexic here or anything. No, not me. No clue as to why I remembered 35 rather than 38. That last digit shouldn’t have thrown me but it did.
We packed and placed the suitcases outside the cabin last night, just like always. The kids were entitled to free valet service (ship checked luggage through to final airport complete with provided boarding passes) so why not. I had traded in an early number for a later one and distinctly remember being given #35, but that is neither here nor there.
None of this will make any sense at all till you understand that I disembarked around 0930 for a 1000 agreed pick up. When I got to the luggage location, my bags were not at #35. Nor were they anywhere else that either I or several terminal employees could find. We checked, they did not go with the kids bags to the airport nor were they anywhere in the terminal that we could find. Just as I was about to give up, we made a last check of the unclaimed area. A man was unloading them off a trolley.
Several people said that I had just missed them, but the woman who was helping me had searched that area as well and was adamant that we had not missed the bags.
As it turns out, area #38 was on the other side of the security screens and roped off. Not visible or accessible from where I was. Now, I have no idea why the woman who was supposed to check the area didn’t see them. It is not like Rimowa is common luggage but I didn’t really care. I had my luggage and was able to transfer all that extra yarn over to Lynne!
