it was a long day

Not that I got to bed early on Wednesday or anything, just that this has turned into a really long day.

Up to finish packing followed by a search for glasses and making sure that I had all the paperwork I needed. Ride to Mannheim from George let me not have to change trains with packages, backpack and suitcase.

FYI – if  you are going to fly internationally, especially toward the US, the US carriers’ screening is a real pain. I understand that they have to ask the questions. I can’t imagine that anyone who was really going to try something would tell them the truth which only leaves the rest of us with aggravation. Coffee in the Lufthansa Lounge made up for it.

Now picture this – Lufthansa runs the Star Alliance Lounge. There I am with my Silver Card and my economy ticket on United. Access Approved. The woman behind me starts getting really upset when she can’t do the same with her UNITED silver card and economy. I can’t help it, I look at her and mention that, perhaps if United would honor Silver Status from its partners those same partners might have an incentive to be nice to United Frequent Travelers. Them that owns the lounge makes the rules.

Coffee is good, charging laptops, phones and the like is even better.

Did you know that it takes over 10 1/2 hours to fly from Frankfurt to Houston. That is more than enough time to knit four of the eight repeats in Wingspan (free on Ravelry).

That it takes 90 minutes at minimum to get through immigration in Houston? Do you think they are trying to make us all miserable so that we sign up for Global Entry?

So, if you are flying through Houston – plan on at least 3 hours between flights if coming into country.

Flight late arriving, flight even later leaving so I didn’t arrive in Phoenix till well after 2200. At that point I decided that it made more sense to pick up rental car and I am about to hit the bed at La Quinta.

Perhaps if I am asleep I won’t eat Mr Blonde’s chocolate and gummi bears? For some silly reason my body thinks I am late to breakfast!

I would have devoured the gummi bears!

  2. Looked up the pattern and downloaded it. Even Eric said “Neat!” What yarn are you using? Sympathies on the jet lag and delays. It’s no wonder I prefer armchair travel, hearing tales like this, though.;)

I’m got on Wingspan right now, courtesy of my friend Anne. You’re going to love wearing it!

Actually, my first reaction was, you’re in the States again? Do I get to see you I hope I hope? I can wish!
