Isabela & Fernandina Islands

Fernandina Island (am). As the youngest and most western of the islands (perhaps a 1/2 million years or so) it should not surprise you to learn that there have been volcanic eruptions here as recently as 2009.

and it was mostly about marine iguanas and beautiful, rocky coast lines…

Isabela Island (pm) – no landing this afternoon – just a wonderful ride out on the Zodiac through Tagus Cove to Vicente Roca (the far NW corner of Isabela) along the coast to see rocks and water bird habitat). Fur sea lions were also in abundance. This area is the foot of Ecuador Volcano (no climbing).

Phenomenal! When I was about ten or 12 years old, I wanted to grow up to be a marine biologist. Never lost my love of the sea and underwater places and creatures.
