Gilroy is Garlic
Except for when it is not. The land changes as you move south from the Bay Area.
Seeing the sign for Gilroy – we decided to pull off.
According to the blurbs – Gilroy is the Garlic Capital of the World – or at least California which means the US.
It is an interesting town – with some incredibly nice people. I found cookbooks on Garlic, garlic keepers and “Vampire Free since 1870” T-Shirts.
No yarn store – but
Anyway – we met Pat who, after retiring from the local police force is active both in running model trains, organizing the local community, and raising money for charity. Oh, btw – he also is a DJ for the Golden Oldies.
we also had a nice time talking about Alaska and fishing (he and his son made the run a couple of years ago. I had no clue that Halibut are actually that big).
Then it was off to Carmel.
Ah, this is the sort of California that so many people miss when they just do LA and Anaheim! Fantastic. Thanks for sharing. Love the Garlic Capital.
Looks like a lot of fun, even without a yarn shop!
