Getting better

each day that is going by. Coughing a bit less and my energy level is a bit more. Today was good enough that I ran a couple of errands before conducting a search and seizure in the garage.

As it turns out, one of the yarns I bought while living in Camberley has been discontinued by Rowan. I had purchased a number of balls when one of the two in town department stores decided to completely close down its “haberdashery” department, as they called it. I loved the feel, the colors were what I was knitting at the time and besides – 75% off for alpaca?  Any way – fast forward to this past week – another member of Ravelry sent me a message asking if I still had this particular yarn. It is only 14+ years, why not? I had no clue so said I would check in my stash.

Yesterday I located two colors, today a third. I will not admit to how many bags, bins, or boxes I searched. Two of the three colors didn’t even have a color name. The third wasn’t what she was looking for either. But the day still wasn’t a wash, I found a vest I had started and feel like finishing + two sewing patterns I thought I had lost.  But I have a lot more yarn than I thought I had….

Otherwise, I have been listening to Rawlins Cross – a Canadian group out of  Newfoundland and making progress on the Peacocks.

almost to the half-way point.

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!
