Four Candles

With Alex on a plane, Dani and Noah both at work, that left only Shana, Miriam, George and I at dinner this evening.

four candles

The choices were soup (sweet potato/yam with onion, garlic, turnip, a tablespoon of harrissa and 1/2 cup peanut butter tossed in. After doing its thing in the crockpot for a couple of hours I attacked it with the blender wand), various brötchen from Acme, veggies. Oh, and chicken wings for those inclined.

I had another low impact, relaxing day. I finished Cast in Flight and started The Memory Illusion by Julia Shaw.

More progress on the cross-stitch slice from Klimt’s Three Virgins

completed. (44×17= 748 so 4400 stitches to go…

The Faces are actually not bad, it is those flower bands that are driving me nuts with no color being used for more than 2-3 stitches….

Off to the SFVA in the morning for round three.

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!

    4 down, 4 to go

We Christians give up after a night or two.

Jews must have stamina to last 8 nights

Its more like all of our holidays fall into the standard pattern – they tried to kill us. They didn’t succeed. Lets eat….

Also, since I am posting a candle increase a night, it means that I won’t get lazy this year!

Wow, that crazy hard cross stitch is coming along at warp speed! Best to you for round three.

Good luck with your treatment today. How long does it last? Can you knit, read, snooze during it? Too bad you don’t live in NYC; then we could have lunch and knit together.

Glad you are at least getting a few less stressed days to relax. The cross stitch work looks beautiful. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers that all goes well with round three!

    Happy Chanukah
