First Tuesday

As I might have mentioned before, can get a bit crowded with things that I either need to do or want to do, During the academic year, I can catch grand rounds from either UCSF or ZGH/SFVA at noon on Tues. The stitchers’ group out of Acorns&Threads in Portland has a Zoom group from 1700-1900. A local knitting group meets at the Kensington Library from 1830-2000.

You get the idea.  So obviously this was a good day to get going on some cleaning during the morning. I got as far as my comfortable chair in the living room. The cat plunked down on my lap. Ok, I guess this is a reading break which lasted till almost noon.

But I managed to finishing up the four birds in last Friday’s addition to Extraordinary Birds which involved anotehr 616 stitches.

and completed the Blue Macaws

which was mostly a matter of all the rest of the motifs. And yes, the lower bird still looks quite coy. Pattern from Lindy Stitches in 2024. I now have 5/6 critters out of the series complete.

I also finished the current Strider (designer Martina Behm) with just the ends to weave in as well as frogging out the first 20 rows on a shawl because it just didn’t look right.

I have finished the Sofie Kelly Magical Cats Mystery series (thanks Hoopla) and have moved on to Sofie Ryan’s cozy mystery set in Maine.

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!
