Falling behind

Well, I am back from an early run over the SFVA. The trip shouldn’t have needed to happen, but I am home and over it. Yesterday’s squishy lump is now hard and still tender. Go figure. I have dosed up with acetaminophen and ibuprofen and am thinking about an early nap. Followed by a later nap. Perhaps augmented by some hot compresses.  Food? Not at all interested in chewing or swallowing.

Meanwhile, I have several things I need to get stitched by the end of the weekend to stay on track. I figure it is pretty impressive that I have managed to stay caught up with everything through the first almost seven months of the year.

Three of the projects are SALs – two have another part that drops on Monday, the third will be hanging over my head till Oct since the parts come out on the 20th. In August I will be happily traveling in Alaska and Sept 20th will see me in Montreal. Then there are the Halloween things. Not sure why I keep doing more other than they are fun and make me happy. I certainly am not going to decorate the house with them.

After an extra nap, I realized that it was also Fancy Folk Zoom (sponsored by StitchNewEngland). East Coast start time is 1900 which works well for those of us on the West Coast. As a result, Ms Mushroom received another round of stitching,  This leaves me with her head and the insanely large mushroom cap.

All this and I am only 60% complete….

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!
