and, in what should be absolutely no surprise to any of you, I am hanging out at an airport. BWI as a matter of fact. Some days I feel like I spend a goodly portion of my life waiting on airplanes.
Carmen and I managed to get ourselves packed up, through breakfast and to the “holding pen” on deck 5 in a timely manner this morning. Daring to stick my nose out of the area a couple of times, I was more than glad to be sitting in comfort and not jammed into the general population waiting for departure. Considering that there could have been several hundred more people waiting with us to disembark ….
Anyway, I finally found the information that said that my airfare included a transfer now that it didn’t matter anymore. We collected our luggage after getting through passport control and security. Loaded the van, said good-bye to a few more people and then rounded up two more for the drive to the airport. Easy ride, easy check in, bag still under the weight limit but no joy on moving to an earlier flight – three flights before mine and all booked.
So now you understand why I am sitting in the airport.
Did I mention free WiFi? BWI has free WiFi. It cuts out on a regular basis (having to relogin while downloading a file is not fun but, hey, it is free). I could spend $50 for the United Lounge or $1xx for the Airport Executive Lounge. But this is me, I have a lot of other things on which to spend that much money.
So here I sit, talking with Ron while Penny naps (couple at our dinner table, rode with us to the airport and headed to Indiana via O’Hare). We are discussing cheap cruises, looking up airfares and generally spending time without money. Meanwhile, two flights have come and gone and their attempts to get out early on stand-bye have come to naught.
Or is standby? I like stand bye better – kind of like Auf Wieder Bye bye….
