But there isn ‘t any baseball!

Last year, or perhaps it was the year before, I added the Oakland Athletics Schedule to my calendar. It provided me regular notice on the games including whether they were home or away so that I could plan the rest of my life. Life does revolve around purchased tickets (baseball, other sports, theater, concerts, whatever) since taking full advantage of sunk costs just seems sensible.

This year, obviously there is no baseball. I am sure that it might give someone else comfort. But for me, it is just one more almost daily reminder that there is NO baseball. Or softball. Or soccer. Or cruises with Dani from Hawaii to Vancouver.

I have been trying unsuccessfully for weeks to get rid of this paritcular calendar. There is absolutely no point in notes that “there is a game tomorrow” or “your games starts in 15 minutes. Watch on MLB app…” since there is NO baseball. Unsubscribe on my computer? It repopulates from my iPad. and/or phone. And round and round. And if I take all devices off line, I can’t unsubscribe.

My last ditch attempt this morning was to unsubscribe each device in turn and immediately take it off line till the last one done.

So far, so good…

ahhhhh NOOOOoooooo

something else out there…..

And in Falcon Chick update
– the third hatched. The live cam is here for those who want to be entertained by something other than a screen saver. Warning, just because you don’t potentially hear some of those high pitched shrieks (GRINNELL – where ARE YOU???) doesn’t mean that cat/dog/or other person in your house is going to wonder exactly what annoying soundtrack you have playing.

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!
