Blinding flash of the obvious

As it turns out, there is a very simple and obvious reason for the stop at Freeport in the Bahamas. This is a new ship. A new ship on her first voyage with a cruise line office in Miami. But, like dozens and dozens of other cruise ships, she is flagged out of the Bahamas. So there is a need for a stop with paperwork and the like so that this ship is completely legal before reaching the US. I am sure, with the monetary gain from all the ships registered, that there isn’t a whole lot of problem with a late Sunday afternoon visit. I am also thinking that a bit of fuel might not be a bad idea either.

Otherwise, it was a quiet day. I have non-refundable credit and there is little to spend it on since I don’t drink, much less want to waste money on high end booze beyond what the normal package covers. Not interested in the Spa so that just left the boutique. As like all such shops on ship – it carries medium to high end trash with massively inflated prices.  I may have to think more on this.

I skipped the evening all hands BBQ in favor of sandwiches in the cabin. Been there, done that a couple of times in the past and really disliked the experience. Too crowded, too loud on the music and not enough light to really see the food. Plus, this is outside on the deck. Color me whiny, but my idea of a lovely evening involves quiet.

Tomorrow will be our last complete see day – and I need to go visit the bridge….

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!
