Big Blue

finished and finally blocked

The pattern is Lutea – which I already knit once in a significantly modified manner. This time I wanted to knit the whole shawl. I started it aboard Jewel of the Seas (Miami to Harwich) and ran out of yarn (yes, the pattern said it would need about 800 meters…but I hadn’t believed it).

The yarn is Roedel sockweight singles in blue color change. It turns out to need about .75 more than the three skeins I had brought and it was knit on 3.5mm needles.

Started May 3, 2012 and finished June 28, 2012

I enjoyed the knit, but I think I am just about done with these huge projects. There is just too much temptation to leave them on the needles and go for something else. Plus – this is not a mindless knit. There are multiple sections of pattern meaning I had to pay attention.

Hmmm – just when are you going to wear all these shawls?
