Apps
I had this really cool post planned complete with a photo taken on my iPhone. Then I hit a slight snag; there is no way for me to upload the photo from my phone under my current mobile config.
Argh!
So instead I will just mention that it is really useful to have “What’s around me” on my phone. Heading out from the SanAk this morning down Neuherbergerstrasse to stand like an idiot in front of the empty parking lot where the local QwikMart used to stand.
Making good use of my 3-day transportation pass, I caught the bus then the U-Bahn to the nearest Rewe. We will skip the part about misreading the map and getting off at the wrong stop. Also the part about not knowing which direction to proceed.
We will just leave it with strawberries, cheese, fresh brötchen and a chocolate bar or too….. Making it back easily and safely in plenty of time for my meeting.
All I have is a really dumb (I mean that in the kindest way) flip phone, and think at times what a good thing a smart phone would be. Yvonne’s Blackberry acting like a GPS was a handy little thingy to have up in Salida – although it was wrong about the exact location of 8815 on County 291. (When the terrain and the map disagree, believe the terrain.)
We decided on this trip a smart phone should have an altimeter – there is probably an app for that and an app for a compass as well.
