And 22

Of this one – there is really no excuse. It should have been finished years ago.

The Tired Trio by Plum Street Samplers.

Stitched on some nondescript 14CT Aida with the called for specialty floss. Start date? I think March of 2019. Looks like it should be simple? Nah – bunch of ½ and 1/4 stitches which are a pain on Aida. I didn’t know about them when I started and just didn’t want to shift fabrics. Mistake that. When I pulled it out today I started looking for what needed to be stitched. Turns out it was three small flowers, one leaf, and a few outline stitches. THIRTY STITCHES! That was effectively all.

It is done,

Earlier I had put time into The Greenhouse, and my Modern Folk Embroider piece, Since I had finished the Solar System yesterday, I had needed pull out another old WIP. And that is where it became challenging. Most of the patterns I have are digital. Near the end of last year, I had backed up most of the files and pulled the non-current ones off my computer. Now, the flipping external drives are refusing to be read. Noah has them to excavate but meanwhile, it turns out that I needed a few of those files to finish two projects (SALs).

But, and this is important, I use an off-line reader on my MAC and save just about all messages of any importance. Obviously, having an attached pattern file was important. As a result, I managed to salvage the four files needed to complete each project. I managed a couple hundred stitches into one of the two projects before deciding that reading and computer games would be much more fun…

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!
