A trap for the unwary

I managed to put in several hours more of cleaning/sorting/reorganizing the craft room. As a result, walking across the floor right now could be viewed as a bit hazardous as I am partway through sorting several bins.

And then, of course, I have found more things that can be donated. Cheap yarn that looked like a good deal, but wasn’t, a lot of small cloth sip bags, some of which have come from airlines over the years, and all the candles I could lay my hands on.  I also found more things that can potential go down to the garage. Now all I have to do is pull out the last of some bins, sort through them, sort most of my floss into smaller bins by dyer and finish covers for a number of notebooks.

Nah, nothing, right?

After putting 144 stitches into a project, I decided to finish out the all the knitting I had pulled out of two cabinet drawers. This resulted in four things completely frogged (or was it five) since they weren’t really worth finishing. Seven more scarves and shawls that only needed ends woven in leaving me only one for the morning.

Suggestion from one of the women in one of my Zoom stitching groups – the Ten Stitch Blanket (spiral version) by Frankie Brown found on Ravelry. The double spiral version looked like it might be fun and could use up yarn – always a good thing =

so this is the start. Two ombre yarns on size 5mm needles. the outside one is obviously blue, the other is actually grey. The next section will be 20 stitches across (10 of first the blue, then the grey) with stitch pick up the the blue edge. 10 ridges (=20 rows) and I will get to do another short row corner. From here, each section will get longer and longer, but there is ZERO sewing together which is what makes it lovely.

Off to get some sleep…. still running really, really tired and there is a lot of trash to take out tomorrow before the pickup on Monday….

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!
