Walk a Mile
or more. Instead of just running a one day event in support of the Make a Wish foundation (one of the Charities that RCI supports) there is also an ongoing participation event. Two treadmills have been moved down to the Promenade and people can sign up in thirty minute segments to “walk across the Atlantic.”
Now, give an average speed of 4 miles an hour and two treadmills, I don’t see any chance of making 2k+ nautical miles even if all the shifts are filled around the clock. Donating to the cause is always appreciated and there will be a lot of people sporting the t-shirts within a couple of days. Along with a couple of others, I figure on logging about an hour daily. Since I would be putting in an hour on the treadmill each day, it only changes the location (before anyone starts thinking I am a really good person or anything).
Admittedly, jogging in front of a lot of people is so not my thing (and especially since apparently the video feed from one of the Promenade cameras is going to be shown on Chanel 32 continuous feed) but I can probably ignore it without too much effort.
Besides, this will keep me out of the Sphinx lounge in the evening. Not that I wouldn’t enjoy talking with friends but as I found out on the Vision, even the smallest amount of alcohol seems to trigger off migraines on ship making the whole experience not fun. And it will leave more chocolate covered strawberries for everyone else!
