Stitching

There were errands, just a few. And an exercise class followed by working on various stitch-a-longs of the cross stitch variety.

The third of three parts of the Barbara Ana “Dreaming Frida” was released. I can feel a bit snarky because there is more to do in this section than the other two combined. The first section was the keys->flowers on the bottom. The second section was the sun, mountains and houses above. Which leaves me all of the girl (just started with the rest of her hair, her face&head + some more flowers to go.

the fabric is a 16 ct Aida orphan from MyVintageNeedleworks. Stitched with the called for DMC.

Then there is Aster’s Amazing Adventure courtesy of Fuzzy Fox Designs out of Australia. This particular SAL started with 5K’s worth of lunar landscape at the bottom (not visible in this photo) and then adds a planet or so every week. This is through week 7.

Aster’s Amazing Adventure – Parts 1-7

with back stitching to be done later.

Little Dove Designs – Follow the Yellow Brick Road. I ignored the frame (which came out 2 weeks ago) to see if I wanted to play with this – and decided why not. Even with all the little red hearts.

Part 1 started –

Follow the Yellow Brick Road

stitched with the called for threads so far on ordinary natural color 16 ct Aida. Still have the rest of Glinda to stitch as well as the road. I think I just may add some shiny threads to Glinda’s crown and wand.

and lastly – Owl Forest (the Russian company) is offering another free stitch-a-long. This one is Alice in Wonderland. Past SALs include 101 Owls and The Emerald City which are still available for free on their website.

This one starts with an arbor in the middle (and the whole thing is not small). Rather than stitch green all day, I figured that I would make a start and do a bit each day…

Alice in Wonderland – Part 1

stitching on white Aida with the DMC conversion since I figured this out too late to order thread from Owl Forest.

UCBerkeley is on a reading week. I have no more lectures to give. Even leaves me with the option to sleep in!

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!
