South Plaza & Santa Cruz

South Plaza (am) – small island just off the NE coast of Santa Cruz known for salt brush, scrub, land iguanas and cliff dwelling sea birds. Also cactus – can’t forget the spines.

Santa Cruz (pm) (second largest island in the chain). We headed up Dragon Hill which is on the northern coast of Santa Cruz. The “dragons” of course are land iguanas. Also found are brackish ponds home to several species of birds). Also worth mentioning is that the feral goat population is no longer an issue (took them a number of years to get that under control), but there are still more than a few feral donkeys hiding out in the bush. Mostly what I was interested in were the birds since a few more land iguanas more or less…. eh!
