and doesn’t look a day older than he did yesterday. For that matter, the love of my life doesn’t look any older than he did at 60.
Perhaps it is because he has lost about 25# in the last year and done more exercise? Maybe it is because he likes what he is doing (most days). But seriously, I am more than happy to truck around with “that grey haired guy” not the least of which is because it makes my gray hairs seem so few. He is my partner, my support and extremely tolerant when I am pitching one fit or another. He also understands my reasons for traveling. I think at times he just might be disappointed that I am not home more, but I am not exactly the slippers&pipe at the door type.
He also traps mice for me including disposing of the bodies. Now that is love.
p.s. As per usual, you can torture him at grATaeris-capitalDOTcom and sorry I didn’t get this up till around midnight but a day late is better than nothing (offspring in the US, are you reading this?)
Holly, here’s the words…you can sing to George now…(and yes, I remember how well you can sing, seem to remember you doing a piece on that some years back)
Steve
When I’m Sixty-Four Lyrics
The Beatles
When I get older losing my hair,
Many years from now,
Will you still be sending me a valentine
Birthday greetings bottle of wine?
If I’d been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door,
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I’m sixty-four?
oo oo oo oo oo oo oo oooo
You’ll be older too, (ah ah ah ah ah)
And if you say the word,
I could stay with you.
I could be handy mending a fuse
When your lights have gone.
You can knit a sweater by the fireside
Sunday mornings go for a ride.
Doing the garden, digging the weeds,
Who could ask for more?
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I’m sixty-four?
Every summer we can rent a cottage
In the Isle of Wight, if it’s not too dear
We shall scrimp and save
Grandchildren on your knee
Vera, Chuck, and Dave
Send me a postcard, drop me a line,
Stating point of view.
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, Wasting Away.
Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I’m sixty-four?
Whoo!
Please add my belated congratulations and wishes for continued successes.
Somehow after all these years, it just seems to work. The challenge is to never take it for granted.
Good for the two of you!
Definitely a Doyne thing going on. [picture attached to email]
We do have a few things in common.
Including… similar taste in men??!!
Best wishes to all –
Wow, the man is looking Good! and tell him we said so. Does he have any designs on impersonating Sinter Klaus? That’s a great beard for it. (Very big grin)
I hear the Beatles singing….Happy Birthday George!
So, were you singing the Beatles song yesterday??!
Hope you had a fun day celebrating.
I think he looks great. Wish him a happy birthday.
Now you can finally ask Holly the questions: Will you still need me? Will you still feed me?
Happy Birthday, George!
Eric just glimpsed the picture over my shoulder and said it looked like George Lucas. I think your George is in much better shape, though. Pass on our good wishes, please.
I have to say that this is the sweetest note about George that one could imagine. I already called to wish him a happy birthday, and won’t forget next year that it is July 11! Thanks for the reminder, and again, thanks for sharing this heartfelt and wonderful note.
