I think I may be one of the few people who adore sea days. I can stitch, drink coffee, people watch.
I finished “April” in the mini-village series. At the point I take my phone off line and switch over to my laptop, I will include a photo here on the blog.
I used one of my two meal vouchers at the Italian restaurant. The food was good, the place jammed, and service slow. The two-top next to us was occupied by a pair of women from Ontario escaping cold weather. Now early sixties- they have known each other since age 16. That just boggles my mind. They mentioned it was just the two of them, but there are another six more friends who have a group get away every 1-2 years.
In contrast, I have no clue about the location of anyone I went to high school with. For that matter, I have one friend from college- with no idea if she is in Canada, the US or on a ship at any particular moment. Med School? 2 out in the San Juans I check in with every now and then.
Ah, well. I think it is probably a result of frequent moves prior to the internet. Once connected by email, well then I don’t let people go easily.
I knew two women who lived into their nineties. They met on their first day of school at age five and remained very close friends for life. I on the other hand have no friends from my school days or teacher training college. University is a bit different but the internet and email has helped that. I think you are right though – moving around does not help.
