Sea Day 2/9 – middle of Atlantic

As far as I can tell we are somewhere between the Canaries and the Caribbean. Unlike many of the other cruise lines I have been on, there is no charted course with an indication of current location easily accessible from the in-room TV. Yes, I could wander down and look at the chart next to reception but I really don’t care all that much. Out in the middle of the ocean is more than obvious from the extremely poor connectivity that I am experiencing.

After attempting to upload photos for about 30 minutes, I gave it up as not worth doing. In case you are wondering if I am attempting this at an obviously busy time – the answer is no. Everyone else seems to be at dinner.

I spent the morning of my day in the forward lounge on Deck 8.

1000+ stitches into the Longdog and the afternoon back in my cabin working on the Barbara Ana. The first is 11% complete, the second now 82% done (and, in this case, it is all the fiddly stitching to go).

Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow predict to be more of the same!

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!

According to Cruise Ship Tracker, you’re at 24.155N, -27.644 W and will reach Bridgetown at 9:30 on Dec 8. The seas are somewhat rough, and despite a strong tailwind, you’re only doing 12 knots.

I wish you a pleasant, hopefully uneventful journey.

Thanks for reminding me about the various tracker programs. If it was possible to do anything on the Internet other than in the middle of the night, I could watch the ship that way.
According to the Captain – we are due to dock at 0630 on the 8th. At some point, we might just go a bit fast than than this turtle breaching the waves…
