I am one of those people who almost never enters lotteries, raffles or plays games of chance. I don’t need keychains (the traditional RCCL reward for winning almost anything) or most of the other souvenir type things that come so often with such drawings. Certainly, I have absolutely no use for the bottles of wine which are sought after by so many who involve themselves with such things.
Today, as the first sea day on this cruise was the Cruise Critic get together. Think of it in current terminology as a type of facebook for cruisers. It runs on the old BBS software which has been out there for close to two decades. It useful as a discussion forum to learn about ships, ports, cruise lines and other’s experiences. There are also Roll Calls where there is a chance to meet others ahead of time who will be on your particular cruise. Several of the lines – Royal, Azamara, Celebrity, Crystal make an effort to host a meeting for the members and take on the organizing and setting up of same for any group of more than 25 on cruises longer than 6 days. NCL and Princess will do the same on request, but it needs someone in the group to take on the responsibility of organization. I don’t volunteer for much anymore.
This morning I managed to remember to go, arrived in the correct place and was unsurprised to find that my name was not on the attendance list. Since I hadn’t had an invite in my room I figured this was going to be the case. Ignoring the implication that I didn’t know how to register or hadn’t done it right, I just joined friends and commenced a discussion of knitting socks with double points vs circular needles.
We ran through the usual announcements: there was going to be a slot pull, a couple of people were gathering a group for San Juan, and who was organizing the cabin crawl. Pretty normal for this kind of gathering.
This evening – I finished as much as I can on the cross-stitch. The only section I have left requires a thread color that I have used up so it is on to knitting for me.
and it appears even better with the marking threads pulled
and that raffle, my number actually was drawn for the last item on the table. I now own –
with five exchangeable bands. I’m wondering if it will be easier to deal with than my Apple Watch…..
Ummm…perhaps you can use it to keep count of your cross stitch instead?
I’m not sure that last color is neeeded! It is gorgeous as is!
I love how the colors dance against the black background.
