Packing Day

19 April 2018 – Packing Day

It was both luncheon (the ship turned our simple Cruise Critic farewell luncheon into a really fancy meal complete with menus and wine) and packing day.

Lunch was enjoyed by all. Both Carmen and I have distributed the last of our pins. Mine went to the bakers and pastry chefs who provided us with the lovely scones for tea each day at 1500. And the last couple of guides for the cabin crawl and one of the ninjas. You know – those fade into the background sound/light guys who seem to work a million hours.

I am packed, except for the last of the electronics. I managed to make it all fit, even with the addition of a coffee mug, an extra Royal Caribbean beach bag and four towels. At least I think it all fits. The extra bag I brought over has a broken zipper so I have swapped it out for the second of the Royal beach bags. I am checked in for my flight to Southampton which was a concern since couldn’t manage to convince KLM that I had a reservation as of yesterday.

Today? No problems. So I will spend a quiet evening up in the Solarium since the pool is closed and the place is just about empty. I am planning on being up early for the sail-in even though we are not planning on getting off the ship till about 0845.

(And please remember, I am crrently @ GMT+1, not counting daylight savings time. Easy- I am 9 hours ahead of the US West Coast

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!
