Meet Ducky

This is Mr Ducky

This is Mr Ducky

Given that he is trying to look super cool and has no hair – I am assuming the male pronoun. You see him in his new habit. Bobbing, swirling, and swaying he can’t do time but most certainly can provide the current temperature in the hot tub. We found him hanging on the wall encased in a blister pack at the Jacuzzi store. He definitely looked like he needed out of there and didn’t mind traveling home with me accompanied by the resupply stock of pH and Cl needed to maintain the jacuzzi which is being held up by our back deck.

But after watching him trying to hide under the half cover, I decided he was shy and needed friends.

The other ducks, as it turned out, might have functioned well as a youth fundraiser courtesy of the Vienna Hilton Hotel but wanted nothing to do with bobbing around and providing either friendship or entertainment. What I also suspected turned out to be true

had managed to fall from the windowsill and hide in the bed where he was warm, dry and most comfortable.

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!

  2. Alison says:

    Beautiful view. Love the ducks!

  3. Margo says:

Am loving all the photos! Just showed the organised shelves to Garry as inspiration to get him to organise the stuff in our very messy shed. Love the Jacuzzi ducks (jealous! – our hot tub has a leak somewhere & is therefore out of action) & the views.

About 90F here, am enjoying the summer, esp. given the news of the huge US snowstorm

  4. Isobel says:

We share the importance of duckies. I have a very nice set from England–complete with “Bobby” ducky and Palace Guard ducky.

  5. Alison says:

Is it just in the water they flop over? Do they stay upright on land?

    • Holly says:

They sit up just fine on land. They apparently are just not balanced enough to swim. Poor duckies.

  6. April says:

i already went through the ducky stage, there are little matching ones

  7. Bill says:
