Legs in Synch

Arriving at the gym this morning at 0630 which is about an hour late on my part I obviously found that I was not alone. There were people scattered here and there on both the aerobic and weight machines. There was even someone on “my” treadmill….. Grumbling to myself, I settled in two machines down from the one door and where I had preferred to walk each morning up to this point. Never mind, I thought, I can be an adult about this.

Now, most interesting was that the Heart Rate monitor worked on this treadmill where it had not seemed to function on the other. Ok, not all bad. LIstening to my audio book I motored my way through my random hill program at a good clip just short of a jog.

As the minutes pass, more and more individuals start wandering in to the gym and going about their individual workouts. As I glance down the line of treadmills my mind starts to play tricks on me. After two empty machines, there are five people in a row. It looks like they are attempting a treadmill version of water ballet with all moving at the same time.

No, wait, different people, different speeds, different legs.

No – they are all marching along together.

Oh, shoot – my mind has completely lost it. I think I need a few minutes in the hot tub. Synchronized swimming is one thing, but when I see marching legs in obvious civilians it is time to turn off March of Cambreath and move on to some nice relaxing in music (which I will do as soon as the nausea and blurriness passes…….
