Five Sea Days
n case you were starting to get concerned, I wouldn’t be. This is a ship. It is under way. Five sea days in a row and there is not really a whole lot to write home about.
I wandered the ship the first day and became sort of familiar with where everything was. I read the program, had supper and spent some time chatting with friends from a previous cruise.
There don’t seem to be many knitters on this cruise so rounding them up has turned out to be a bit of a challenge. For all the lounge spaces that there are on the ship, there don’t seem to be all that many where you can hear yourself think. I have no idea who the idiot at home office is who thinks that “music” all day and in all venues is a good idea, but I am certainly one to take issue.
The fitness center is lovely and quite busy starting at 0600 in the morning or shortly before when a number of us quietly slide in the door and appropriate our favorite machines. I am managing a consistent 4-5 miles a day on the treadmill. I wish my friendly little jawbone did a better job of tracking steps going nowhere but I can’t have everything.
The food has been generally good to excellent, the free wine available in the Elite lounge a choice between indifferent chardonay and a nasty red so after attempting to turn the white into Kir – I have switched back to the every reliable Sprite Zero.
Tomorrow we arrive in Hilo – our first stop in in the Hawaiian Islands and I am off to climb a volcano (and hoping for a day without rain).
