European Dragon

question mark, question mark… I am not sure that there really is such a generic dragon. Certainly the dragon pictured in Old English is not the same as that which is pictured on the continent. But that is probably the key to thinking about this – the designer is English. We have already seen a Welsh Dragon, as well as Fafnir, and a Wyvern. I am sure that a French dragon or a germanic tribes dragon is European and NOT English…. And certainly anything out of Eastern Europe would be completely other. The funny thing is, this particular dragon reminds me mostly of what English authors put in their novels.

I added over 1000 stitches in the dragon and another 220 to the frame. This leaves me with about 800 stitches left in the frame. Nit picking 2-4 stitches of a color at a time other than 310. I obviously still have major work on the wings on this particular dragon to go – about 900 stitches worth. I am hoping to manage tomorrow plus heading back to the clock or over to Vampyrum… Since all the squares have been filled on The Herbalist – not sure what it going to show up for the last few parts – probably something in the center section.

And yes, we watched the cliff hanger of the  Olympic Women’s Basketball finals.

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!

One Response to European Dragon

What an exciting game! And they knew a win would put the US ahead of China in the medal standings. Nothing like a bit of extra pressure which could explain their weak shooting. But one lady made the shot of a life time, sending the ball off the rim, almost over the backboard and then through the hoop. And three points down with the clock running out, a French lady sinks a long shot just inches inside the three point line.
Although the French team deserved an overtime, my frayed nerves were glad they didn’t get one.
