And it was another technical 9-5 day. Not counting the fact that we need to be there an hour prior for set up and an hour after for tear down. Specifically, there are things we can leave up overnight. But that doesn’t include anything that is even remotely electronic.
There were a few more people voting today, plus a lot more dropping off their “mail in ballots.” It is actually the best way to do the mail in as those sealed envelopes get picked up by the courier overnight and the post office is not involved.
George was off to a wedding today which meant that he could drop me off, but I was on my own once again to get home. Unlike the AC Transit Buses #65 & 67 which don’t run on weekends, the #6 runs seven days a week between Oakland and the Berkeley BART station. It just happens to travel along Telegraph Avenue complete with a bus stop at the corner of Stuart & Telegraph which puts it only a 100 meters from the polling station. Taking the bus eliminated both the hike along Telegraph and the trek through campus. Instead, I could easily walk up Oxford which is a gradual uphill, a block on Vine, again gradual, along Spruce leaving me only the last five blocks which were really UPHILL…
And it took about the same amount of time as last night but I wasn’t quite as wiped. Go figure. Tomorrow is just like today, then Tuesday will be really, really long.
And yes, we actually do get paid. It isn’t all that much but better than Jury Duty pay.
Our media is giving this almost as much courage as one of our federal elections. The outcome is going to have a big influence here – one way or another!

No food, no free coffee. But I stopped and picked up a very large flavored Latte on the way in. I figured I would need both the caffeine and the sugar.
