Catalina Island

Once again (the last time was in 2023) this not-small ship needed to anchor in the harbor and rely on tenders to ferry passengers to shore. Last time I was here, we walked rather extensively around a goodly portion of the harbor as well as up and down hills into the residential areas. I didn’t fee a huge need to get off ship today.
So instead, I tried out Chops as the location for the “special Pinnacle Breakfast.” Ok, similar to my experience this spring on the Celebrity Summit, it was a nice environment, great staff, severely limited menu and no reason to return. I can get my lattes as easily in the lounge. Said lounge having the serious advantage of being almost people free for the entire day.

I finished this small piece –

which turned up while I was digging through various project bags and boxes. Island Ponies by Ardith designs – it actually came as a kit. Top portion of the pony’s head, a batch of smaller motifs and all the backstitching… done.

Then moved on to #5/6 in the Travel Together series. No picture today. So you only have to deal with one Xstitch pix.

There is the fitness center, also lacking in people (return from shore was 1530 latest).

As none of the bars/pubs/available TV channels covered the first round of WNBA play off games, I headed back to my tiny cabin.   I can only catch one (on Prime) but it hasn’t been a great day for the favorite in the first two games (both the Lynx and Fever lost). Unfortunately the same can’t be said for the Atlanta Dream – which I can watch. The Valkyries play at 1800 PDT. After a lot of flailing around, I think we managed to get my tickets forwarded so that they can be used (home game, part of the season ticket contract but cost a lot extra).

Tomorrow is a sea day – even with the age of the population on the ship I have a feeling that things are going to feel more crowded…

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!
