Akureyi

This time I am starting with the fotos. First Godufoss – waterfall if the gods. On the decision to go Christian, the idols of the pagan gods were thrown over these falls.

I hiked both sides of the falls. Did I mention this land is lava fields? And that it is raining?

It also means that spending time at the Botanical Garden wasn’t as nice as it could be.

And if you are thinking that those look like Alaskan Lupines you would be right. Imported to help control the erosion and now growing wild across the country – mostly the blue variety.

In town you can see the various touristy entertainments

Whether it be a Viking in an oversized sweater, stuffed bears

Or the Icelandic version of Trolls; both larger and much nastier than their Norwegian cousins.

Or if you are really unlucky you can become a snack
