0 dark whatever

I can keep comforting myself with the fact that the days will not be getting any shorter after the next 2-3 weeks. The winter solstice will slide by resulting in a few extra minutes of light at each end of the day.

Right now it reminds me of months on end in Minnesota – get up in dark – go to work/school in the dark – come home in the dark. You might/might not see any sunlight on the weekends. There was this thing called snow…

Anyway – it was 0 dark whaatever when the cat lost his ever loving mind – the same cat who is now sitting my lap between me and the keyboard. Apparently he was STARVING to death and needed me to be aware of the fact. Right. Like I really needed to be up at 0530. Rested yes, slept a lot yesterday but still, I would have welcomed another hour or so of sleep.

He got fed. I made a french presses worth of coffee and wandered upstairs to stitch till a Zoom get together at 0830. Earpieces directly shoved into the canals helped a bit. Then it was back to stitching.

taking over my lap for a snooze

taking a nap break in one of the many cat beds

So you have an idea of how much “help” he has been today.

Otherwise 1428 stitches more on the Menorah putting it at 80%.

five colors are completely zeroed out. Unfortunately, there are still two (825 & 3844 with about 2k each to go… I have moved to “fill in outlines” as it seems to make the most sense.

So

The cat?

About Holly

fiber person - knitter, spinner, weaver who spent 33 years being a military officer to fund the above. And home. And family. Sewing and quilting projects are also in the stash. After living again in Heidelberg after retiring (finally) from the U.S. Army May 2011, we moved to the US ~ Dec 2015. Something about being over 65 and access to health care. It also might have had to do with finding a buyer for our house. Allegedly this will provide me a home base in the same country as our four adult children, all of whom I adore, so that I can drive them totally insane. Considerations of time to knit down the stash…(right, and if you believe that…) and spin and .... There is now actually enough time to do a bit of consulting, editing. Even more amazing - we have only one household again. As long as everyone understands that I still, 40 years into our marriage, don't do kitchens or bathrooms. For that matter, not being a golden retriever, I don't do slippers or newspapers either. I don’t miss either the military or full-time clinical practice. Limiting my public health/travel med/consulting and lecturing to “when I feel like it” has let me happily spend my pension cruising, stash enhancing (oops), arguing with the DH about where we are going to travel next and book buying. Life is good!
